Some people like to build their walls
Others like to open their doors
Some prefer to walk all alone
Others hand in hand on life’s shores
Some people strive to find their own way
Some follow the rules as they're told
Some forge a brand new path of their own
Some stick to the roads that are old
All of us in our day to day worlds
With a hope and a dream and a yearning
Fighting for one bright space neath the sun
And making our way through the learning
Pages turning
Books without words seeking light
Pages turning
The story that each one will write
We are heartbeats in time
To a non-sensical rhyme
Notes to our spinning and churning
While the pages just keep right on turning
Some people love with a passion
Others through uncertainty's fear
Some welcome the force of life’s pull
Others too afraid to draw near
Some people rejoice and they dance
Some seek a dark place to hide
Some pave their own way to chance
Some secret their chances inside
All of us in a walkaday wilderness
Each moment a 'time-and-date' stamp
Carving our sagas from memories
That echo through mists dark and damp
Pages turning
No one qualifies for any exemption
Pages turning
Searching for some kind of redemption
We are blades in the grass
We are leaves falling fast
We are souls ablaze with the burning
Of the pages that just keep on turning
