It was yet another day in the rain forest for the ants. Another typical day where they went about their typical, usual business of foraging and working to provide for their colony. Two retired elderly philosopher ants were out together for their daily stroll and chat. Though they had been lifelong friends they maintained a gentlemanly formality in the way they addressed each other. Rather than call each other by name, they preferred to address each other as "Sir", while sharing their opinions and observations as they walked. Generally, their conversations revolved around life and meaning. The topic this day centred on 'purposefulness and pointlessness'.
As they strolled in the forest their debate grew livelier and more engaging, until they came to a clearing and began to notice an odd scene before them. There, perched on a boulder, a young warrior ant was seemingly waiting for something to happen. Then a breeze picked up and the warrior ant stood up defiantly, facing straight into the breeze, cheeks puffed, attempting to fight it back by generating a counter current of its own by blowing back!
The two elders watched with great curiosity and wondered about what they were witnessing? After a time, one of the old ants turned to the other and asked "Do you have any idea what that young ant's purpose and point is?". The second ant paused and pondered for a while, then finally replied "The ant, Sir, my friend, is blowin' in the wind. The ant, Sir, is blowin' in the wind".
