Tomorrow’s Lies
Some whispers will unravel settling nestled in the dust
Like the hidden implications borne from trusting our mistrust
In the thunder of the silence and the silence in the roar
Tomorrows moments lie in wait while today’s rush out the door

Let this be the final warning
Let this be the parting shot
Our deceit will spin the web
With false pretense and twisted thought

As the sun goes down and darkness paints itself across the skies
The promises we made today become tomorrow’s lies

I have learned to turn a blind eye till the blindness holds its sway
Yet my thoughts cannot be deafened and from them I cannot stray
From the numbness of the conscience to the crispness of the pain
I choose to fall to pieces to rebuild myself again

Let this be the final warning
Let this be the parting shot
Our deceit will spin the web
For it’s there we shall be caught

As the sun goes down and darkness paints itself across the skies
The promises we made today become tomorrow’s lies

There’s a line of blackened shadows whose lives we’ve yet to grieve
Once labeled disbelievers now they’ve nothing to believe
So they stand with hollow gazes and refrain from taking breaths
With no meaning to their lives and no mourning to their deaths

Let this be the grand finale
Let this be the final scene
Will the dirt of our deceit
Compel us ever to come clean

The heart may still it’s flutter but the promise never dies
Though the truths we spoke today may well become tomorrow’s lies

God rest the souls of sinners in their shackles and restraints
Once absolution’s granted they’re as pure as any saints
We can wash away the misdeeds and misspoken words of wrath
And lay waste to any guilt we might encounter on our path

Let this be your greatest lesson
Let this be your guiding light
Wrong is just a word we spin
Until it spins out right

And the rationale we substitute for reason never flies
Till the promises we make today become tomorrow’s lies

And I will make one promise that I vow till death to keep
To stay awake just long enough to lie myself to sleep
