Without A Goodbye

It’s a voice that whispers from it’s fear to shout

With thoughts that struggle to find their way out

Of  promise and hope in a dwindling supply

Down the path to an end without a goodbye

 

It’s the darkness that seeps through the cracks and the seams

And swallows the light that protected your dreams

Dissolving  the goals you were sure time would buy

To be stolen away without a goodbye

 

It's the hardened road you stumble upon

Your travel companions one by one gone

You can’t find an answer, you’ll never know why

You freefall to nowhere without a goodbye

 

It’s the wind that keeps blowing from no one knows where

Through the skin to the bone till it strips the soul bare

And each tear that falls is one less to cry

Swallowed up by the earth without a goodbye

 

Place your pride on the porch and step through the door

Into the room with no ceiling, the home with no floor

Over each wall you’ve built it’s now time that you fly

Where memories desert you without a goodbye

 

Your faith betrayed your reason

The platform was a lie

The light within is leaving you

without a goodbye
