Drivendown
I tried to nest at Drivendown
A wondrous place to be
But I turned into a statue
On which one bird would pee
I found my heart at Drivendown
I had hoped to always stay
But that one bird at Drivendown
Kept on driving me away
In fairness to that feathered friend
I was myself a little bent
So we had our share of ups and downs
And that’s how that year went
I could not stay at Drivendown
But that bird with active bladder
Will be so sorely missed by me
And for that I’m much the sadder
Perhaps in the long days ahead
She’ll fly from that place too
And we’ll laugh about the fools we were
It’s what friends should sometimes do
And maybe we’ll go back again
And repaint that crazy town
Rename the place Upliftedville
And smile …. (until we drown ?)
