Melancholy Rain

 

Melancholy rain

Grey mournful day

Burdensome scene

Tragic the play

 

Veiled in a shroud

Dense mist of malaise

Unwelcome witness

With malingering gaze

 

Intrusive dull din

Oppressive its weight

Somber the soliloquy

Depressing the state

 

Echoed redundancies

Over island of hollow

Drawn to a whirlpool

Lured by its swallow

 

Reprieve is numbness

Escape is short sleep

The waves slowly rise

The levee won’t keep

 

For what can I reach

To wring out the pain

How does one mop

A melancholy rain
