Some Kindness
Thinking about just how we got here
By taking the long way around
Paying high cost
To the toll bridge of lost
On the journey to find path to found
Feeding upon all the stories we tell
Of wounds healed and scars that remain
inside voices keep yelling
No shame in the telling
For the words wash away in the rain
Striving to keep the soul candle lit
Praying it guides us on through
Returns our reflection
To point out direction
And shows us the right thing to do
Alone in the choices that shape us
Fear veiling each truth from its real
We get a little more wise
Trying to reduce the size
Of the heartaches we can’t bear to feel
I wish I could find all the answers
When the heart gets beaten too much
But the more the scar burns
The more the soul yearns
For some kindness, a whisper, a touch
