Note To Self....(and apology)
If you are hoping to stave off all things heading south
Hey Paul better learn when to shut up your mouth
If you want to believe that you’re just so damn smart
Close that trap for a while and just hear with your heart
Remember there’s more sides than just your one truth
And that time is so short on the wrong side of youth
So if you can’t find a way to bring someone to smile
Just try on their shoes and go walk in them for a while
When erupts that compulsion to don gown of judge
Smear your face with great gobs of your own silly fudge
You cannot sort others into slots on a shelf
Lest you’re ready and willing to hop up there yourself

Focus your passions on all the things you arrange
And keep them away from the ones you can’t change
Bridle that urge to tell others they’re wrong
You’re not always in tune with their own unique song
You will learn as you go you big dumb old fool
That llfe is your teacher and you’re always in school
So be sure that you learn from all your mistakes
And correct them before you are felled by their breaks
Be good to yourself and to those you call friend
Be generous with all that your big heart can lend
And remember that when you find things heading south
To keep your mind open and shut your damn mouth!
